Preparing stock and support before a live shopping event
Confirm saleable variants, check the viewer's buying route and brief support staff before a live shopping event.
Before announcing a live shopping item, confirm that the exact variant can be sold to the intended customers and that someone can handle questions and order problems. Name a stock owner and a support owner. The host cannot investigate a missing size or delivery case while demonstrating.
Work from saleable stock
List the variants that will appear, including any bundle or accessory shown. Ask the inventory owner what is available for the relevant fulfilment locations. Units physically present may already be committed or set aside. Use the retailer's own system definitions elsewhere.
Agree when to withdraw an item from the event: an uncertain count, an unavailable demonstrated variant or a delivery promise the team cannot support. Record who can update the listing, shopping selection and host notes. Set any low-stock threshold from the retailer's demand and update speed, rather than an arbitrary number.
Check what viewers can buy
For each featured variant, compare the product record, public shopping action and store page. Confirm the item, pack contents, price, availability and intended Australian delivery area. Following the route to order review without placing an order can reveal a mismatch through the stage reached; it cannot verify payment or fulfilment.
If your platform supports product tagging, check the tagged product and the customer view before the event where possible. Complete important product-selection changes before the event. Do not promise that a change made during the stream will appear immediately.
Give support a live brief
Support needs the featured products, variants, offer, delivery wording and stock owner. Set a route for general buying questions, stock or price uncertainty, and individual order or payment problems. The latter belong in the retailer's established support channel.
Prepare a short public response that acknowledges an individual issue and gives a genuine support route. Do not ask viewers to post addresses, payment information or full order details in chat. Tell the host how they will hear about a material correction.
Set a stop-and-correct rule
If the shown version is no longer available, stop directing viewers to it until the offer is checked. If another version remains available, describe the difference before presenting its shopping action.
The ACCC can require businesses to back up claims they make about their products or services, and can investigate possible misleading conduct. Correct an inaccurate statement made during the stream as well as the store page.
Finish with a handover record: checked product and variant, observed route, stock owner, support contact and the person who can pause the affected offer. Recheck material changes immediately before going live.
