A featured collection gives shoppers a useful starting point when every item helps them decide. Keep it small by selecting only products that meet a clear inclusion rule, rather than adding items to fill a preset number of tiles.
Set an inclusion rule
Start with the shopper’s immediate need. Include products only when they have a clear reason to feature and can be purchased in the target market.
Check variants, stock stability, price accuracy, product information and the path from the social profile to checkout before adding an item.
If several products answer the same need, include alternatives only when they differ in use or specification. Explain what the difference is and which distinct requirement it serves; leave out near duplicates.
Use product roles to check that the selection is useful: an entry option, an alternative for a distinct requirement and a complementary item only where it genuinely helps. Do not add products just to increase the collection’s size.
Do not use a “best seller” label or ranking without verified sales evidence.
For seasonal products, set a review date for the end of the season or promotion. Remove an item then if its reason for featuring has ended.
When featuring products on Facebook or Instagram by Meta, check the product-publishing options available for that channel in Shopify before choosing items.
Review the collection as a shopper
Open every featured item from the public storefront. Confirm the correct variant, price, availability and destination.
Record any mismatch and remove the item temporarily if it cannot be corrected promptly. Recheck an item when its stock, price, variants, product information or purchase route changes.
At the review date for a seasonal item, check whether it still belongs in the collection; remove it if the season or promotion has ended.
The collection is ready when each item helps someone decide and each purchase route works, not when a preset number of tiles has been filled.
